Not working out of the box

I bought the Clipper theme and have spent the last hour and a half trying to get it to work. I use Fat Cow for hosting and the first time I followed the Getting Started instructions, my website came up blank with "0" and no formatting. I deleted the file in WP-Content on my hosting company's admin dashboard and tried again. Now I have a strange hybrid of the posting columns in a typical WP blog (Hello world post, etc.) and the Clipper header. It did not, however, show me the Amazon coupon, which is how you're able to tell it installed properly. Anybody know what's going on? Thanks very much for your help and advice.
