Adding Event Plan Options

I have seen to old posts asking if there's going to be Event Plan options added, similar to how the Directory Plans work.

The response appears to be "no", over and over again, but these are not recent and the "Ideas" area is no longer online, so I cannot check there.

For those who've been around for a while, has anyone successfully setup Events with additional paid options? If so, were you able to do it via a child theme or a plugin WITHOUT touching the core Vantage code?

I'm going to wade through the sea of code to see where things need to be tweaked, but wanted to throw this back out there in case someone could shed some light on the situation.
