Trying To Set Up Home Page

Hi. I'm trying to set up the home page in line with the demo site and am having all sorts of problems.
Firstly - there are no default appThemes pages showing in the pages list - only the basic Wordpress ones - with the "Create your website with blocks — Front Page" as the main page.
Secondly, the demo site has no side bar on the front page - yet I cant seem to be able to remove the side bar at all from the front page.
Thirdly, how do I achieve the typing text effect over the featured image?
