They do have a point. While we were all pleased with the introduction of the "releases page", if it is not updated to accurately reflect the development progress then it is effectively pointless. To update the schedule the day of or after a scheduled release date puts us back to square one when ClassiPress 3.1 was delayed.

I understand from a business perspective they are trying to offer multiple themes to increase revenue quickly, however, taking this approach too quickly prior to having a couple of robust, stable, feature rich themes already out there just leaves potential and existing clients wondering if and when they will (for example) ever see a custom killer search functionality that would benefit all the themes.

The custom search bar feature / functionality should be present at the beginning of any of their themes as far as I am concerned.

any way I believe appthemes has made a grate mistake and to be honest an insult to the customers!!!! I got an email to get the discount code for Clipper but....! is there any theme named Clipper ? I? don't think so !!!! I've been checking the release page several times a day but unfortunately nothing changed but the "Last updated: Oct 14th, 2010" !
it's funny and I really..........!!!!! I hope it's not gon' happen to CP 3.1 bcuz I have set all my bzness on this date!!!!! I need new features of CP 3.1 ! I can't say must bcuz for me the only way to contact u is the Internet ! so I can't do anything else but saying "plz plz plz give the customers a right date !" (I'm just thinking about CP ! if this happens to CP I think I have paid for sth just to learn some things not bzness!)

I'm sorry you feel this way. The releases page was a positive step forward in terms of our communication and it has only been up less than a week and already updated twice. Yes, the Clipper theme has obviously not been released yet, and yes the page needs to be updated, but 1 day overdue and already such negativity? I personally am surprised to see this kind of feedback already (That's me speaking as a customer myself, not a moderator).

The purpose of the releases page is to give existing and potential customers an idea of progress of our upcoming new and updated them releases. In more than one instance we have indicated that these are approximate time frames, and this is also reiterated in blog posts relating to the themes. We also strongly recommend that customers do not base projects around these target dates.

In no way are we trying to insult customers by giving them a better insight into progress, and it is not our intention to surpass target dates, but sometimes it can happen..again, not intentionally.

2 days and counting ...

I think each theme on the "release" page should have a details/comments field or link so that they post the latest info. This way if they are going to delay passed the posted planned release dates they can post some info for us. Once again, many of us have customers or projects that are scheduled and the constant slips are quite "inconvenient" for us to say the least.

I, for one, fully understand the dilemmas with software development and the delays that can occur but communicating them to your customers asap is the vital part. Posting dates is one thing but if they don't mean anything well then the releases page is rendered moot and we are back to square one (as already stated).

I really did not mean my feedback to be negative. but looking back perhaps it was a bit. I appolagize for that.

But when you bring out a tool like the RELEASE page, then for that tool to be effective, that tool needs to be updated.
I understand, that this is all new to you guys as well, and it is gonna be a learning process.
And thats what we´re here for... to help, and give ideas, brainstorm.

Magnus, well put. I also don't mean to come off sounding too harsh or negative and only wish for the Appthemes team (and us cusotmers!) to beneft from the feedback. Best of luck to all! ;)

As a frequent customer myself, I am shocked at people's behaviours. Just chill out and wait!

I don't tolerate half way unfinished themes, so the wait will be worth it when it's released.

Thanks, and yes I totally agree with the fact the page needs to be kept up to date to be effective. I spoke to our development team for an update as soon as that Clipper date came up, and was advised they are planning to have it ready next week. Along with this they need to get the demo available plus the features page and all the other theme links/pages which are needed on the AppThemes homepage, all of which adds to the delay, but is a necessary part of producing a new theme.

Please believe me when I say, we do appreciate the feedback and also the support we get from all of you, and we are definitely trying to improve many aspects of how things are done when it comes to communication. We really don't want to cause frustration, so I too hope that all of this can be resolved soon.
