Ad images have disappeared, can no longer upload images

Hi all

I updated a couple of plugins today and since then half the photos from ads on my site have disappeared. it appears the image url has been replaced ... from http://www.gypsycobsforsale.com/wp-c...icfilename.jpg to http://www.gypsycobsforsale.com/?attachment_id=2000

Additionally the site now will not let anyone - including me - upload new pics. I get the following error:
“A1.JPG” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory uploads. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Any ideas?
