    child themes and directories

have posted a few questions about child themes and have had very little joy on the answers...trying again ( have seen the limited tutorials!!)

I have set the new them as my main theme but i get the following message 'abc Theme uses templates from ClassiPress. Changes made to the templates will affect both themes.'

is this normal? How can i get it to point to my new theme? also it's a bit of a mess as im ting to install new side bars which run of two different php files which are located in my child theme, but its still trying to find these in the classipress directory.... help please??
