Refine Results Zip code and radius bar problem

I need help with 2 things:

1: I would like the radius bar to go up to 1000 miles as our classifieds will be all over the country. Is this possible?

2: It seems like the zip code and radius bar is not working. Whenever I try and search within 50 miles of the zipcode I used when posting the ads (88318) it gives me no results.
