    Hide Gmaps by Default

    I'm working on some forms for ad input and am in need of a workaround for the display of maps. On my site, I intend to use the existing location fields (cp_city...etc). for use with the DMLF plugin for filtering and navigation purposes but do not want the map visible as my location listings for those fields are customized and not map friendly.

    Is it feasible to create new map location custom fields and mod the core & child theme only to activate maps in the event the custom fields are filled out?

    I've found linked info for GMAPS in sidebar ad, sidebar Gmaps and such. Where else would I need to look? Ideas and input are appreciated!
