    Add space between site title and site description?

    I need to add a little white space between my 'header' graphic and the 'site description'.

    I've added the relevant section of style.css (currently lines 218-247 #masthead, #site-title. and #site-description) to my child theme's css, but all my attempts to add more space, and/or move the 'site description' down slightly result in it disappearing behind a white block.

    Does anyone know how to do this?
