How to add a background to listing tags in vantage

Hi all,
i'm wondering if some one can help me add the css to style the listing tags, i'd like to be able to add a background image to the tags associated with each listing i assumed it would be as simple as adding the style related to the div tags eg .#tags .tags{background:url("images/tagbackground.png")no-repeat} in a vantage child style css file ?

I'm, pretty new to this and i'm learning as i go along !
