How to drop 'Category' from Vantage URLs

Anyone know how to drop the word 'category' from Vantage archive URLs?

In the demo of Vantage, let's look at the category 'burgers'.
http://demos.appthemes.com/vantage/listings/category/burgers/

'vantage' is obviously the folder containing the demo so we'll ignore that for this explanation and pretend the install is in the root (http://demos.appthemes.com).

We have the main part of the URL as 'listings' which we can change to something like directory or ads or whatever. It's nice to differentiate that from our blog or articles sections of our website.

But now we have that annoying word 'category' that WordPress users around the world have used plugins and tweaks to get rid of in their blogs since it's birth - we do not have any need and there is no SEO value in the word 'category' so how can we get rid of it?

To be a great URL, all we need is http://demos.appthemes.com/listings/burgers/

'listings' differentiates the directory from the rest of our website and 'burgers' is the category. What does the word 'category' add? Nothing.

Any thoughts? Anyone?
