Thread: AppThemes, please consider making an auction theme!!

I would be interested in an Auction Theme, as I have been seriously considering this avenue once my current site is finished.

I would love it too. I bought Geodesic Solutions auction software 3 years ago. It is managable, but very challenging. AppThemes interface is much more user friendly. I would definitely buy an auction theme.

I believe a couple of people have already suggested this on the AppThemes ideas exchange. You can always vote and add your comments there if you wish for our development team to consider this

If a auction theme was made, would it be possible to have the expired ads on your sites posted to the auction site if the user wanted..?. I think it would be a good way help people sell their goods and would be a useful for service buyers and sellers.

Technically I guess you could do this with RSS, eg. site A submits the content of the expired auction to site B, which turns it into a post. This can practically be done already, if you have two different WP sites. But I think it'd be hard to implement it within a AppThemes Auctions theme, since it'll still be run on a separate server etc etc

Anyway, I am weighing in to say that I'd also love to see an auction theme! But then again, I'd rather see improvements on Classipress!

Of course there is always an alternative. Leave the theme alone but develop a plugin that provides the site with the ability to incorporate/populate auction items as required. I'm sure many of you have heard of the Auction2Post plugin (using eBay API) that works with older versions of Classipress. This plugin is no longer being developed.

Well a new theme would not be needed, it could just be a option or a plugin to classipress.
I agree it could be nice to have, but not needed.

i agree, i think the way forward fo rthis is to have it as a plug in/mod for classipress, which turns it into an aution style website.

where payment is taken out at the end of the auction, obviously this would need some serious work for the payment gateway.. not sure if you can defer a payment on paypal!

don't make a auction theme! just integrate the function into classipress!
