would wordpress multi-site handle this scenario?

I'm building a classified site using classipress. I also want to add a daily deals site & would ideally like people to only have to register once. Is this possible using wp multi-site to have

a) different themes on each site
b) shared log-in for each site

I cant see why not, this is what WP multisite does.You can also use this plugin which allows you to assign a default role for each site.
