I need total 6 step drop down menu att Sign Up page and following pages...

Hello,

Can anyone please tell me how to achieve this?

I have tried doing the task below with Custom Fields and Form Layouts but was not successful.

Here is my question.

During signup, a person from 1st drop down menu, chooses a Country,

Then from the 2nd drop down menu, he should choose State

And then from 3rd drop down menu, he should choose a City

And after from 4th drop down menu, he should choose lets say Rea Estate

And from the 5th drop down menu, he should choose Apt

And finally from 6th drop down menu, he should choose let say say Renting or Buying or Sharing etc. which I will add in this category list,

And once he chooses that too then he should go to the next page and there he will do whatever he wills.

So I need total 6 step drop down menu to make this happen.

How can I achieve this?

Have you considered another option with refined search?

If you had three (3) main categories - 'Renting', 'Buying', 'Selling'
Then under each category have 'Houses', 'Appt'

Then create custom fields for City, State, Country, Postcode.

Make a custom form and make all custom fields you want searchable available.

Would be easier instead of having so many sub-cats - as a user, I hate sites that require so many sub-cats, drives me nuts LOL

At this time, you can only select the main cat and one sub-cat, an issue for many of us, however, if the 'Ad-Category' exists you can make it searchable, change the 'title' in the main search bar to say 'Enter Country or City' (this is edited in theme-searchbar.php) so they can search the main category first, get the country they want then refine the search from that point.

If you look at http://www.seemecar.co.uk in the main search bar, you can enter items like 'Sat Nav' and it will pull up all the cars with Sat Nav Fitted etc. If you want a Manual Gearbox, type in Manual, it will give you further options, select one, do a search and get all the results.....

Yes, it takes some planning, however if you write it all out on paper first before creating the main cats, the sub-cats, then the custom fields and forms, you will then find it very easy and very functional.

Same thing here I need help. I am currently using the Classipress 3.1 and would like to add up to 7-8 drop-down options. However, I will check it out for myself first then will let you guys know later what will happen. Good luck to me then.

As long as the choices are Categorically Related this modification has already been done.

If you set up your Categories so that this truly represents an Ad hierarchy...that a Parent Category was a Country so that UK is a distinct Parent Ad category.

If I Post an Ad in "USA" >> "Montana" >> "Billings" >> "Real Estate" >> etc etc etc

that the final sub-categories BELONG ONLY to USA as the parent

and you then duplicate the same structure for the Great Britain and using Counties in place of States....so that each ad type, even though the same, stays in its own country, then YES ..

there is a mod for this. I am using it.
