Permalink Question

Greetings from a Newbie:

To set Permalink setting, I clicked "Custom Structure" and added /%postmark%/ in the box and "Save Changes"

Checking back on the Permalink page after this, what's checked is "Post name" instead of "Custom Sructure" and in the box next to "Post name" it says, "http://www.mywebsite.com/sample-post/

Is this how it should be? Thanks for your help.
