Thread: NO custom posts

Problem is 3.0.4 used regular POSTS so things were fine in that version.

3.0.5.1 and 3.0.5.2 are using custom posts ( not even called posts they are ) ad_listings

So hence your plugin is looking to work with POSTs and it cant

Hence the reason why so many plugins. ( all in one seo, print, email ) dont work anymore

Going the route of custom has screwed up any hope of plugin use.

Simply put... The reason people use Wordpress is because of PLUGINS they have hundreds, thousands of plugins that extend the capability of wordpress

99% of them only work with regular POSTS and Regular Categories

There is only a small percentage of people who will customize their wordpress to use Custom Post Types and Custome Category types. and hence in their case they have to go without being able to use plugins on them or create their own as 99% of plugins available are not for customized posts and categories.

Thats is what is retarded about using customized posts and plugins.

Now dont get me wrong.. I understand why David moved to custom posts.. For the purpose of being able to FILTER and do search

But as we dont have any filtering or search beyond the default wordpress one. I dont see the point as of yet why we have moved to cusotm ad posts and categories. It's like putting the cart before the horse.

The whole point is custom post types and categories provide great options for search filtering. But we have not been given the search filtering, so what was the point in giving custom posts and categories its only screwed up other things in the process

ok, understand, but that caused so many bugs and also many URL are lost.
As you say, there are any news search options, even not simple ones like alphabetical ordering.
So what is the future here ?

I agree with kplunk.

This will probably be seen as bitching, but it is really not meant to be. I feel strongly that the move to custom post types, and its pointlessness, comes from the most crucial problem in this entire operation. Unlike other forums, certainly the ones that I am a part of, there is almost no presence from developers or decision makers on the forum. Instead, there seem to be some moderators that act as go betweens. Consequently, the developers are busy trying to meet deadlines with 'improvements' without any real notion of whether those improvements relate to the needs of the customers, or simply the vision of the proprietor. Not that the vision is not great. It is. But its not necessarily ours, and at the end of the day, we, after all, are the ones paying for it.
Perhaps David will come on board at some point and ask what we want before telling us that we have to wait longer for the next release because its taking longer than expected to deliver what he thinks we want.

Like I say: not meaning to bitch, just feel upset that such a great idea has gone so wonky.
